Let Food Be Your Medicine Dietary Changes Proven To Prevent Or Reverse Disease By: Don Colbert, MD This sounds like a great book. Wouldn’t it be nice to eating your way to being healthy again? I’d love to be able to get rid of some of my medicines because sometimes the side effects are worse then what you have. Just read the side effects on the paper they give to you with your medicines? I take a medicine that after long use shuts down your liver and kidneys, nice right? Doesn’t food sound better to take care of diseases after all you have to eat so why not try to eat food and gain your health that is if you have the diseases in this book and the food can help. Like DR Colbert stated on page 226 though your body naturally craves the very food that promotes diseases (like sugar) but you don’t have to obey. You get to choose. It’s called “will power”. Yes sometimes Genetics for predisposition to a disease. You still get to choose. It’s going to be tough to get your health back but isn’t it worth trying? Of course it’s your choice. The final word you have could lead to death or life but of course it is still your choice. Appendix A is 21 day meal plan. Appendix B is the shopping list. This book is chucked full of good information. I did stop sugar and some foods before I got this book so I am a head of what he is telling me to do. I found some food he suggested that I can’t seem to put in my mouth like mackerel yuck wish he would have put in a substitute in place of mackerel. The one thing I found he doesn’t do that I could see maybe I missed it but I don’t see substitute foods that you can eat just in case you either don’t like that food (fish) or you may be allergic to it like my son is allergic to lemons yep lemons. He does have nuts in here and I love nuts but I know a lot of people are allergic to nuts more than lemons. He does talk about for example he has in a box at the side of the page Foods that may increase anxiety. So it pays to read the boxes on the side of pages too. I was interested in type 2 Diabetes because my husband has it and Arthritis because I have it. I looked for thyroid but didn’t see anything on that or a few others I never saw in his book, so his book covers only certain diseases. If you are thinking about buying this book my suggestion is check to see if it has your disease in it first. Otherwise a good book for the ones that might have the diseases that are mentioned in it. I am going to reread it at a slower pace this time see if I missed something. I received this book free from Worthy for an honest review.
