Exploring Christian Theology (Volume 2)
Creation, fall, and salvation
By: Nathan D Holsteen and Michael J. Svigel
God’s narrative took a world –Shaking turn. Hero passes through trials endures setbacks, and then over comes setbacks, and over comes failures. The only human in history who never deserved to die, died a brutal death (Phil 2:5-8. Why did he die such a brutal death for someone like us? The very people that turned against him and then had him put to death in place of a murder? How could he love us that much, and still today people turn their backs on him curse his name, yet he shows us his love is faithful and he will be there for you. The story of his life he told himself centuries before.
This is the Christian Story in Four Acts:
Act 1 Creation
Act 2 Fall
Act 3 Redemption
Act 4 Restoration= You are here!
God’s story actually flows like a classical Hero cycle. The twist and turns of Paradise and fall, death and redemption—murder people seem to enjoy other people being hurt and they go as far as cheering on the abuser. Why do we have that much hate and enjoy blood being spilled instead of a hug and friendship being made?
As you read throughout this book they bring 9/11 in and what happened to explain a light in the darkness. Remember Flight 93 it showed the depths to which people can sink. All that is going on god already told of these things in the book he wrote.
There are diagrams throughout this book to help with different times in the Bible. There’s Scripture to remember and in a little box on pages there’s facts to never forget throughout this book.
Part two wise Unto Salvation: Gospel, Atonement, and Saving Grace. As they say Faith without work is dead.
They explain in a very unique way of darkness and light—remember Adam and sin we were born guilty of sin= “ The wages of sin is death” Rom 6:223 we keep affirming our sinfulness by what we do. We needed someone to do what we cannot do for ourselves Christ did that and He continues.
This is really a great book to learn the bible a little better. This book is written in a readable style that’s easy and makes sense. It’s not a book you’ll want to read fast through but one you will want to take your time and study and learn the lessons they are giving you. I will reread this book slower now and study it and learn from what they have written.
I received this book from free from Bethany House for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own and no one else’s.
I recommend this book highly. A Great read.
