Let me say I saw the cover of this cookbook and just had to have it to review. After all who doesn’t love good food. I am not a good cook so maybe I can cook some of their kind of food (just hope it will taste as good).
I am so glad I did because it really is a great cookbook,it has pictures of the Amish and tips and journals through out the pages (that you’ll love to read about the Amish).
Well grab your hat and come on a carriage ride through Amish living and cooking. The plain people as Sherry calls them. Me I’d just say they are Godly people with a wonderful way of looking and living life, not to mention the great foods they cook.
Now to begin our ride through this beautiful cookbook. Fist let me say I love the pictures of the plain people, they are beautiful and so down to earth the children are just adorable, the men look like they are having fun and look it’s all in the game yes? These pictures are beautiful and near and dear to your heart,as the stories unfold it make them as welcome as fresh air is to your lungs, they are people that you can admire and appreciate.
I looked at the beautiful pictures of the food they cook, it looks as if you could just pick it off the pages and just gobble it right up.
The recipes sound and look so yummy that it makes me want to take a road trip to Sarasota, FL to visit the Amish, their shops, restaurants and taste their good cooking and see their wonderful life that they so love. It must be a laid back life style no hustle and bustle like in the big cities (NY style)
Fried Zucchini Patties sound soooo good I love zucchini how about you?? Alligator Stew, well why not try it after all Alligator bites are really a great treat here in FL. Hmm worth trying wouldn’t you say?
This cookbook is divided by basic categories like all cookbooks breads, salads, soups, meats main dishes cakes, candy and This and That really!! Oh and yes Sea Food after all it is Florida isn’t it?
There is so much more to say about this cookbook Sherry Gore did a beautiful job with it,the pictures of the people and the food and of course the stories that told a lot about the community they live in.
This is a must have. This is a cookbook that should be right there with your favorite cookbooks of old.
I give this cookbook a 5 star.
